About Malta
One of the smallest countries in the world, Malta makes up for what it likes in size through personality and beauty. A rich history spanning 7,000 years, stunning scenery, amazing weather and beautiful beaches make the Maltese archipelago a brilliant holiday destination for everyone.
Though isolated in the middle of the Mediterranean, there is archaeological evidence, under the guise of the 11 Megalithic Monuments of Malta, proving that people have inhabited the islands since 5000 BC. Furthermore, Malta’s interesting history has resulted in some stunning architecture built by numerous civilizations, which is why you’ll find everything from Greek Byzantine buildings to Baroque cathedrals. Interestingly enough, Valletta, the capital of Malta, was the first city to actually be planned in Europe rather than being built and growing organically. Thus, a plan was created to build the city during the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, in 1565 and it was then constructed in a mere 15 years.
Along with its interesting history, Malta is a great holiday destination because of the stunning beaches and lively nightlife it offers. The sunny weather doesn’t hurt either or the fact that there’s always something to do.
